Remember, content ideas don’t always have to stem from your genre or topic. When it comes to author marketing and building a brand, ensuring fans and followers have ways to connect with you on a more personal level is equally as powerful.
How to Use the Content Ideas
Below are holidays and just plain wacky and fun August Observances in 2018.
We’ve also included a few content ideas and angles to help spark your creativity!
Remember, not all these are worth an entire blog post or article, but nearly all of them can be turned into a fun or thought provoking social media post or blurb in your newsletter – so it’s like getting triple the ideas!
Keep in mind, nearly all your posts should encourage your fans and followers to respond, chime in, share their stories, etc. so don’t forget to work in that angle!
Getting Started With Content Ideas
1 National Girlfriends Day – AMEN. Women are the book buying powerhouses, if you write for women celebrate this day. Consider doing a BOGO offer for one of your books! It’s super simple, just let your fans and network know that if they buy one of your books and email you the receipt, you’ll gift a girlfriend a free copy! This is a fantastic way to introduce new readers to your work and one of my personal favorite promotions.
2 Coloring Book Day – This is fun for the young and young at heart! Any authors who jumped on the coloring book craze should go crazy with a reduced price discount.
3 Grab Some Nuts Day – Is this for low carb, high fat fanatics or erotic romance authors? You choose, and have fun with it!
3 International Beer Day – Share your favorite libation!
4 National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day – Do you have a favorite family recipe to share?
4 National Clown Day – Calling all horror authors!
5 Friendship Day – Take a moment to honor one or some of your best friends.
5 Sisters Day – This could be blood family, or our chosen sisters, women’s fiction writers should really make a big deal about this day.

11 Son and Daughter Day – If you feel comfortable sharing a family photo dedicated to your kiddos I know your fans will find it heartwarming.
12 Middle Child’s Day
13 Left Hander’s Day – If you’re a lefty now is the time to own it loud and proud! There are also some fantastic statistics about left-handed people.
