We recently shared a post on some of the top social media tools for authors, and naturally, we found it hard to stop at just 10. So, here are 10 more great options for you to try in 2017!

  1. WordSwag – we talk a LOT about images. WordSwag is a particularly fun graphics creator. Available on both iOS and Android, it’s easy to use. Add text to your own images or free royalty-free images from Pixabay. You’ll be delighted by the high quality, plus you’ll have fun sorting through the options.
  2. Canva – We talk about Canva a lot, but it keeps getting better as they roll out new features like folders, teams, and graphics sharing. And in the paid version, you can even set brand guidelines and develop your own templates. Most authors will be perfectly happy with the free option though.
  3. ly – if you haven’t used Bit.ly to shorten and customize links, then you’ll want to start now! Although you don’t need an account to get started, if you have one it can track clicks!
  4. DuoBook – If you are reading multiple books at once, or even toggling between audio and eBook, you’ll want this! Currently available for iOS users. (So maybe it’s not a social media tool, but it’s incredibly useful for authors on the go!)
  5. Piktochart – This is one of the easiest ways to create infographics for social sharing. With easy-to-edit templates, it’s a great tool for authors on the hunt for the perfect infographic. And the free option is likely all you’ll need, but the next step up is easily affordable.
  6. Rev – If you’ve ever thought that a transcription service would make you much more effective, Rev is something you’ll want to check out. Write a book or blog post while you’re driving, on a walk, or simply not up for typing. It’s not free, but it is reasonably priced.
  7. Pablo – This tool from buffer gives you beautiful images with simple text that can easily be resized for optimal sharing across social media platforms.
  8. Rocketium – We often talk about video as a powerful way to market books and connect with your readers. Have you ever wondered how the beautiful recipe videos on Facebook are made? Or any other fun videos with text? Rocketium gives you similar videos in three simple steps. And there’s a free option that will be a great place for most authors to start. Their claim? So easy a 6-year old could do it!
  9. Bear – Need an easy way to take notes on the go? Bear is free and perfect for iOS users looking to keep track of their notes and prose. Plus you can use hashtags to easily organize and find your notes. It’s every busy author’s best friend.
  10. Headspace – In a world of information overload, including social media, you may need to refocus on what a healthy work-life balance should look like. Headspace offers guided mindfulness meditation. So it may not be a social media app in the traditional sense, but authors needing to realign their priorities can decide how long to make each session.

So with that said, this rounds out our list of new social media tools for indie authors, but there are certainly more out there! Have some other great social media tools that you love? We’d love to hear about them!
